Worlds & generation
Every world combines a world type with procedurally generated terrain, caves, structures, and biome transitions. Normal worlds are the broadest starting point; specialized world types make Snow, Volcanic, or flat building the central experience.
Free worlds and Full Access
Since version 1.5.3, free players can create up to three worlds. Creating additional worlds requires Full Access. Full Access also unlocks saved worlds, Creative Mode, and custom worlds.
World types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Normal | Mixed biomes. |
| Flat | Simple flat land. |
| Snow | Endless snow. |
| Volcanic | Endless volcanic terrain. |
Procedural generation
Terrain is generated in horizontal chunks and streamed as the camera moves. Underground caves, ore layers, water, lava, dungeons, and temples are integrated into the generated world. Biome transitions are tracked for achievements and collections.
World saves, cloud, and custom content
Full Access unlocks saved worlds and custom worlds. Free players can create up to three worlds; additional world slots require Full Access. iCloud world synchronization supports moving between Apple devices. When a world is created, enabled modpacks can activate custom blocks, mobs, biomes, and other creator content. World names are validated before creation and stored in the world manager.
