A spoiler-light route through the established 2D Survival game. Use it as a checklist when you are unsure what to build, carry, or pursue next.
1. Secure the spawn area
- Collect wood and craft planks, a workbench, sticks, and a Wooden Pickaxe.
- Mine stone for cobblestone, then move to Stone tools as soon as you can.
- Collect coal or make room to carry torches before digging far from daylight.
- Mark your route back to spawn with torches or an unmistakable block pattern.
Your hotbar is for items you need immediately. Keep a tool, building blocks, torches, food, and a weapon within reach. The Apple Watch hotbar adapts to its display, while larger devices expose more slots at once.
2. Prepare before night
A compact shelter is easier to defend than a large unfinished build. Give it solid walls, a door, light, a chest, and enough clear floor space to move during an attack. A bed requires planks and cotton, so collect cotton when you see it.

3. Build a safe mine
Dig a route you can climb back out of. Ladders, stepped passages, regular lighting, and spare blocks are safer than a straight drop. Upgrade through copper and iron before treating diamond or volcanic materials as routine supplies.
- Carry a second pickaxe or enough tier material to repair your main one.
- Place valuables in storage between mining trips instead of carrying everything.
- Dungeons contain persistent enemies, rooms, chests, and special loot. Enter with food, a weapon, and a clear retreat.

4. Protect your inventory
Chests are long-term storage, while your inventory and hotbar travel with you. Put rare ingots, spare gear, and materials for your next recipe in a chest before a dangerous trip. If you die, a gravestone stores the items you were carrying so they can be recovered.
Tools have durability. A broken tool disappears when its remaining durability is exhausted, so repair valuable pickaxes and swords at a Tool Bench before a long expedition. Repairing a damaged tool costs one matching tier material; repairing a fully broken tool costs two.
5. Explore with a purpose
Normal worlds can lead through Plains, Forest, Desert, Wastelands, Snow, and Volcanic biomes. Each environment changes the terrain, resources, structures, and creatures you may encounter.
- Forest: gather wood and watch for generated campsites or treehouses.
- Desert: look for desert structures and materials such as sand and cactus.
- Snow: prepare for freezing water and snow-based creatures.
- Volcanic: bring your best equipment for lava, volcanic ore, glow materials, and temple exploration.
The Temple Locater is a single-use item that takes you to the nearest undefeated Volcanic Temple. Save it until you are equipped for the destination.
6. Choose a later-game goal
Survival opens into several paths rather than one ending. Improve a favorite tool, clear dungeons, summon the Slime Boss, build a farm, connect powered devices, establish teleporter routes, complete Collections, or work through Achievements.
